GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Alison Bouman had 13 rebounds and a career-high 18 points as she and the fourth-ranked Davenport women's basketball team held on to win 59-49 over host No. 18 Aquinas Saturday afternoon. Although they (14-1, 7-1 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) won their ninth straight game, the Panthers won the game without making a 3-point shot, going 0-for-15 to end a streak of 387 games with at least one.

Davenport finished the day going 21-for-56 from inside the arc to finish with a .375 shooting percentile. The Panthers defense set a season-best as they held the Saints to a .269 shooting percentage from the field.

Tiesha Stokes also reached double figures in points with 12 and was two rebounds shy from completing a double-double. Kayleigh VanKeulen and Kia Frazier added nine points.

The Panthers showed domination on boards, out-rebounding Aquinas 57-42. Bouman, who brought down five offensive rebounds, was one block short from tying the school record held by Jeannie Closson against Indiana Wesleyan in 2009.

After six ties and three lead changes, Davenport found a bit of a momentum with less than nine minutes left in the first half. Davenport would gain some momentum when Tiesha Stokes and Kia Frazier combined for four points to take a 19-14 lead.

Davenport led as many as nine in the first half, when a pair of Alex Law free throws gave the Panthers a 29-20 lead with 1:33 left. Although the Saints got a jumper with 29 seconds left, the Panthers tried to get the nine-point lead back before heading into the locker room but were unsuccessful.

After leading 38-34 with 9:19 left in the second half, the Panthers ignited a 7-0 run to build an 11-point lead, the largest in the game.

The Panthers make a brief return to the DU Student Center to play host to Concordia Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first meeting the two defending WHAC regular-season co-champions meet since the league tournament final last year.

Post-Match Notes
Davenport has won 15 straight games against Aquinas and improves to 16-4 all-time.
