ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Competing against over a dozen of the nation's top NCAA Division II programs, Davenport University cross country posted strong efforts in the Lewis Crossover Invite, finishing in the top 35 of their respective races.

 "I was really proud of how our student-athletes competed in these races against some of the top teams in the country," said head coach Scott Cook. "We had a bunch of very good individual performances and two new school records. Races like these will prepare us well for the upcoming GLIAC and NCAA Regional Championships."

Jacob Dennis helped lead the men's squad to 22nd place, setting a school record for the 8K race with a 25:09 finishing time. Drew Sharrar, Rogan Melling, Nikolas Shilling, and Lucas Van Meter also set personal bests in the event.

Ella Baryo crossed the finish line first to finish for DU for the fourth straight invite this season as she also set a school record (21:48) for the women's program in the 6K event. Alivia Lamborne, Zoe Zawacki, and Lacy Hess also contributed to the team's placement of 34th overall.
