Men's XC claims 10th in Regionals; Baryo receives All-Region for women's squad

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Davenport University cross country teams posted some of their best performances in program history after competing in the 2024 XC Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Nov. 9.

The men's side finished 10th of 27 teams as the women's placed 24th overall after facing a gritty lineup of programs. Ella Baryo and Jordan Domany led their respective squads. Baryo received All-Region honors after placing ninth overall for the highest placement in the entire program's history for the regional championships. Domany's time of 31:59.2 set the school record in the 10K event.

"I was really proud of what our teams accomplished today," said head coach Scott Cook. "A top-ten finish in one of the best regions in the country is something the men have been working for all year. These men have come so far in the last couple years. I am so happy that our seniors could end their cross country careers with this accomplishment."

"This (finish) should put Ella in a good position to earn an at-large individual berth to the NCAA Championships," Cook continued. "Ella ran a tough race; placing in the middle of a pack loaded with former cross country All-Americans. A top-ten individual finish in our region is unbelievable.
