Panthers drop two at Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Davenport baseball team dropped the final two games of the weekend series at Nova Southeastern by scores of 11-4 and 16-4. The Panthers lost game one despite outhitting the Sharks 11-8. DU left 10 runners on base in the contest. Coltrane Rubner, Josh Robinson, and Tyler Mosher each had a double. Rubner and Jared Evans each drove in two runs. Anthony Aloisio and Xander Reisbig went 2-for-4. Logan Todd went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jared Schwartz took the pitching loss despite not giving up an earned run. He went three innings and allowed three hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Nova Southeastern scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and led 14-0 before the Panthers could muster a run in the top of the sixth inning. The Sharks had 14 hits including four doubles and two by Mario Lopez, Jr. Davenport had eight hits as a squad and Robinson and Chase Kemp each had a double. Rubner, Aloisio, Dominick Cowdrey, and Ricky Collazo each had a RBI for the Panthers. Isaac Van Dyke (0-2) lasted less than an inning and surrendered seven earned runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Davenport will start another road weekend series at Ashland on Friday, March 15 at 3 PM.
