CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport baseball team did not even up the season series against Wayne State on Sunday as they fell 12-1 at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. The Panthers kept it close through the first four innings down 1-0. The Warriors then scored four times in the fifth and broke the game open with six runs in the eighth. The Warriors clobbered the ball to the tune of 18 hits including three doubles by Kyle Ray, a triple by Owen Tuccinardi and a three-run home run by Jacoby Dale. Dale and Tuccinardi each drove in three runs to lead Wayne State. Ray finished 4-for-5 at the dish with three runs scored.
Ashton Potts got the start for WSU and picked up the win despite giving up a season-high eight walks. Potts scattered three hits over 6.1 innings and struck out four. Three different relievers also did not yield a hit as Cam Rosen and Evan Langlois went 2.2 innings combined with no walks and one strikeout.
Austin VanderMarkt did a fine job through four innings, but could not record an out in the fifth before getting replaced by
Cade Kontny. VanderMarkt (3-2) allowed eight hits and four earned runs with two walks and three punchouts.
Jared Schwartz also pitched 2.1 relief innings and allowed five hits with four strikeouts.
Jeremy Marble was the sixth pitcher for Davenport and struck out two of the four batters he faced.
Davenport scored their run on a sacrifice fly by
Anthony Aloisio in the seventh inning.

Tyler Mosher each had a single in the contest. The Panthers had their chances to score more, but left 12 runners on base. The team will now finish the regular season with five games against GVSU. The two teams will next play on Wednesday, May 1 in Caledonia beginning at 6:00 PM.
