CALEDONIA, Mich. - The final home game of the 2024 season saw a breakout performance by
Coltrane Rubner in a 13-6 win over visiting Grand Valley State. The junior from Livonia, Mich. (Stevenson H.S.) went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, three doubles, and five RBI. Rubner tied the DU single-game record for doubles and tied his career high in RBI. He belted his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right center, in the first inning as DU scored four times. He then had a RBI double down the left field line in the third inning and then again in nearly the same location for another RBI double in the fifth inning. His final RBI double just stayed inside the left field line in the sixth inning to drive in
Xander Reisbig.
Davenport managed 10 hits in the game and scored double digits for the seventh time in the all-time series while improving to 19-9 against the Lakers.
Anthony Aloisio went 2-for-3 with a double, sacrifice fly, and two RBI.
Josh Robinson went 2-for-2 with four runs scored and three walks. He has reached base safely now in 45 straight games. Reisbig finished with three runs scored and three RBI.
Isaac Van Dyke lasted 2.1 innings as the starter for Davenport. He yielded five hits and three earned runs with three walks and one strikeout.
Cade Kontny (3-2) got the win in relief going 4.2 innings. He gave up five hits and three earned runs with a walk.
Ian Dixon and
Brayden Flanders also tossed one inning and neither gave up a hit or run.
The teams will continue their series tomorrow (Thursday) with a 2:00 PM game in Allendale, Mich.
