Panthers Compete Among Nation’s Best at Lewis Crossover

LEWIS, Ill. – The Davenport cross country teams faced elite competition at the Lewis Crossover, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from Jordan Domany, who set a new school record in the men's 8K with a time of 24:47.6.

The Panthers took on a highly competitive field featuring 12 nationally ranked men's teams and 11 nationally ranked women's teams, providing a strong test midway through the season. The Davenport men's team placed 26th overall with 634 points, while the women's squad finished 36th with 1,168 points.

On the men's side, Domany led the way with his record-setting run, placing 44th out of 390 runners. Tyler Guggemos recorded the sixth-fastest 8K time in program history (25:32.4), while Luke Oyster ran the tenth-fastest (25:50.6). Lucas Van Meter (25:54.9), Rogan Melling (26:06.3), Matthew Nowak (26:39.0), and Nikolas Shilling (26:49.6) rounded out Davenport's top seven, contributing to a strong team showing against some of the region's best.

For the women, Cierra Guay paced the Panthers with a season-best 6K time of 25:57.6, marking her fastest since 2021. Adrianna Soria (27:25.0), Lacy Hess (28:50.2), Britta Johnson (33:23.6), and Hanah Johnson (33:33.7) followed, with most of the squad competing in their first-ever collegiate 6K.

Head Coach Scott Cook was pleased with the team's effort against a stacked field, saying,
"We had a solid day against some stiff competition — 12 nationally ranked men's teams and 11 nationally ranked women's teams. We also got to see where we stack up against some GLIAC and Great Lakes Region competition and see where we     need to be to accomplish some of our season goals."
