GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams largely competed at the Grand Valley State Tune-Up and the remaining throwers went to the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. These meets served as the final ones before the GLIAC Indoor Championships next weekend at SVSU's Fieldhouse.
The throwers is where three different personal records were set in South Bend.
Elizabeth Miller placed third in the shot put and had the second-best all-time throw at 44' 3.5" (44' 5.25" is the school record by
Jayla Procter). Procter was able to set her best-ever in the weight throw and finished fifth with the seventh-best mark at DU (51' 6.25").
Hannah Fitzpatrick was set her top mark in the shot put and was fifth place (38' 3.5"). On the men's side in throws, it was
Chandler Griffiths placing sixth (51' 9.25") in the shot put.
Thomas Johnson took eighth in the shot put (49' 5.5") and ninth in the weight throw (45' 2.25").
Moving on to the GVSU Tune-Up which took place on Friday, Sophie Orton ran 9.33 in the 60 hurdles final and finished sixth with her personal best (seventh all-time at DU).
Tori Lator also finished eighth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.72.
Julia Ott took fourth place in the high jump and cleared 5' 2.5".
Tess Carlson was fifth in the pole vault (10' 10").
Bree Hardy in the long jump finished sixth with a distance of 15' 9.5".Â
Luke Oyster ran his best race ever in the mile and his time was the fifth-best at Davenport (4:18.17).
Harrison Follett finished seventh in the 400 meters with a PR (51.49).
Lucas Van Meter finished seventh in the 800 meters (1:55.13).
Ethan Scholten was able to finish second in the long jump (21' 5.25") and
Mark Palmeter was also seventh (19' 8").
