HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Davenport University cross country program competed in the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships, with the men's team finishing in sixth place and the women's coming in at seventh.
"I am really proud of how our athletes performed today. It was a very hard and hilly course," head coach
Scott Cook said. "They really showed some toughness today and ran very fast despite the conditions."
Freshman Jordan Domany capped off his first conference season with a Second Team All-GLIAC honor, leading the men's team by finishing 21st (25:09.8) out of 95 placed runners. Graduate student Erin Dorn also earned Second Team All-GLIAC honor for the second-straight year in the conference championships, being the first women's runner to cross the finish line at 24th (22:36.5) of 109 placed runners.
"The women were led by
Erin Dorn who collected her second All-GLIAC award in cross country placing 24th overall," Cook said. "Overall, the women ran well on a tough hilly course that featured three nationally ranked teams and five regionally ranked teams. Most of the women ran near their personal best times, on the hardest course we have seen all year... The men were led by freshman
Jordan Domany who broke the school record for 8K while collecting All-GLIAC honors finishing 21st. The men's team ran a tough race and improved two team places from last year, finishing sixth."
